ABOUT US

GroundwaterVirginia was created to promote the understanding and protection of the groundwater supply of the Virginia Coastal Plain. It explores
both the basic hydrogeologic principles that govern the groundwater supply of the Northern Neck and examines the local, State, and Federal actions
that have significant influence on the future of this water supply. This site is founded on the principle of vox populi; that is to say, a public voice is an
essential if government is to function effectively for the benefit of citizens.

Wise resource management policies will be required in order to ensure the long-term viability of the groundwater supply of the Coastal Plain. These
policies must be founded on sound scientific principles that are clearly understood by citizens. Regrettably, public knowledge of the groundwater
system is characterized by numerous half-truths, distortions, and outright errors which, unless corrected, could have troublesome consequences.
Hence, I have attempted to present the groundwater topics here in a manner that makes them clear and interesting to persons with little background
    in science.

THE MISSION of GroundwaterVirginia is to foster a partnership between science and public policy for the protection and conservation of the
groundwater supply of the Virginia Coastal Plain. In 2012 with a name change to include The Environmental Spectator, the mission was expanded to
bring other environmental issues to the attention of the public.

It's not my job to tell people what to think.
It's to suggest what they should think about.
